Believing in Turkish Design: ETMK’s 20th Anniversary Activities
Within the framework of “Believing in Turkish Design: ETMK’s 20th Anniversary “ activities 4 panels were realized parallel with the exhibition.
First day Lawyer Güven Çalık from İstanbul Patent & Brand Consultancy Office, gave a briefing to the audience about design registration, brand, patent.
On the second day programme design and media was discussed. Joy Baloğlu (Bi Dünya Design Programme), Umut Kart (Radikal Design Newspaper), and Enis Tibet (Tasarım Publishing Group) were with us. Radikal design newspaper editor Umut Kart shared with the audience how she transferred to the field media as an industrial design graduate, and the adventures she lived through till she come to Radikal Design Newspaper Design. Enis Tibet, shared that Design Magazine is celebrating its 20th the anniversary, why the magazine's name to is design magazine and the distress that the sector is experiencing. After being the documentary producer for many years, Sevinç Baloğlu came across to a new quest for entering into a period, she questioned her life experiences in design framework, she evaluated each object on the functionality and design scale, and these interests took her up to Bi Dünya Tasarım Program. Panel ended with guests questions.
In, Thursday, December the 10th programme creator of Porof Zihni Sinir, cartoonist Mr. Irfan Sayar; responded humorous and different style birth and passed 30 years of challenging but fun adventure of Zihni Sinir character in the world of humor, and questions such as "Who is Zihni Sinir?", "Perception of Zihni Sinir in world of design and humor”.
In the last panel program on December the 11th, criticism of feelings that the exhibition provided to visitors and the passed 20 years was made. Speakers were Assoc. Gülay Hasdoğan (ETMK President), E. Sertaç Ersayın (ETMK İstanbul Branch Chairman), Orhan Irmak (ETMK İstanbul Branch Secretary) and Özgün Tanglay (ETMK's 20 Years Exhibition editor). Gülay Hasdoğan and Sertac Ersayın pointed out from 20-years history of ETMK, first event performed, until the inauguration of the Istanbul Branch and ETMK's turning points. The speech began with journey to memories and ended with frames of smiling faces from meetings held on the first year ETMK was established.
On December the 12th the special closing party for the members began following the members coming into place. Members had the chance to visit, critise the past years and communicate with each other within the exhibition hall where 20 years of ETMK was told. After the Project coordinator Orhan Irmak's speech, Gülay Ersayın and Sertaç Hasdoğan gave gratitute plaques to the event sponsors.
Due to intense interest in and visit, our exhibition was extended until December the 19th.
The exhibition will take place in Ankara between January 13-30, 2010 at Gazi University Fine Arts Faculty, Tunus Cad. No:35, Kavaklıdere - Ankara.
